Google Maps Now Lets You Swap The Navigation Arrow For 3D Cars

At the Google I/O 2018 developer conference, the tech giant announced several significant updates to Google Maps including AR directions, group planning and more. But the company is first rolling out a fun update to Maps navigation.

Google has today announced that it’s making the driving experience a bit more customizable by now allowing you to swap out the bland arrowheads for three adorable cars. You can pick between a red sedan, a green pick-up truck and a yellow SUV – all of which look better than the blue arrow. This feature was first revealed earlier this month by Munish Dabas, a user experience (UX) engineer on the Google Maps team.

google maps navigation cars ios As you can see in the GIF attached above, you can simply tap the blue arrow in the navigation mode to see a pop-up with all available car options. Pick any of the 3 attractive vehicles and make your time on the road a little more enjoyable. These tiny navigation cars are currently restricted to Google Maps on iOS and there’s no word on when or if it will come to Android. Also, wouldn’t it be awesome if Google added Maruti 800 or an autorickshaw to Google Maps in India?

Google Just Launched An Extraordinary New App For Android

We all know very well that the tech giant Google has a habit of trying to meet the application needs of its Android ecosystem. Now, according to the latest reports, the tech giant Google just launched a new podcast player on Android.

Google Just Launched An Extraordinary New App For Android

Android has a little-known feature, but very useful for anyone who is a fan of podcasts. Through the Google search and Google Assistant, the system helps you organize the episodes of the programs in which you signed up. Best of all, you do not need to install any applications.
To use the tool, just search for a certain program like “this American life podcast”. The search shows more information about the podcast and a list of the most recent episodes, which can be played at any time.
When you start listening to a podcast, the Google tool shows an icon in the upper-left corner of the screen. By selecting it, you can have access to an area with all of your signatures. There, you can also create a shortcut to be displayed on the home screen.
Like Stitcher and Pocket Casts, the Google player is also quite simple. It relies only on the most important functions, such as play and pause, and options to advance or rewind to an exact point of the episode. It also offers the option to download the programs for you to listen even without internet.
The player’s home screen shows episodes you have not yet finished, as well as suggestions based on genre and popularity among people who listen to the same podcasts as you.
Being inside the search platform, the tool can also be used on other Google devices. For example, it is possible to start an episode of the mobile and end it in Google Home.
There is no confirmation about a possible separate app launch for anyone who likes podcasts. However, it’s interesting to know that the tech giant Google is aware of the format. It remains to be seen whether the company will attempt to issue something similar on iOS, which already has a native service.

Apple iPhone 2018 may sport ‘iPen’, 6.1-inch model to be the cheapest

NEW DELHI: Several analyst reports and rumours have pointed out that Apple is all set to bring three iPhone devices later this year. While one of them will be the successor to the iPhone X, the other two will be follow-ups on the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus. Out of these three, two are said to feature OLED screens while one of them could be sporting an LCD display. According to a new report, the LCD screen iPhone may support a stylus and could be $200 cheaper than the OLED screen models.

One of the market analysts with Rosenblatt, Jun Zhang in the latest note has written that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could support a stylus. The device could also be cheaper than the other two models. Zhang says the handset could be priced around $799 range. This strategy is assumed to take place in order to push iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S users for an upgrade. The particular device is being tipped as the ‘iPhone 8S’ and internally as ‘Jaguar’.

The device is said to be cheaper due to the usage of LCD screen instead of OLED and a different material instead of the metal. More material cost reduction could be around radios, single rear camera setup and exclusion of force touch among other features. However, the ‘notch’ design will remain and a small bezel might be there below the screen.

Talking about other upcoming iPhones, the analyst claims that the upcoming 5.8-inch model, which will be the successor to the iPhone X, won’t have many changes. As for the larger 6.5-inch OLED iPhone, the device is expected to support the ‘iPen’, which will bring the device in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy Note series.

Some other features mentioned include better water resistance, 3D sensors and more efficiency with less battery consumption.
